"Workin' nine to five, what a way to make a livin..."
You all know the famous Dolly Parton song ‘9 to 5‘ right? Well for those of you that don't, this is the theme song of the 1980 film by the same name which earned Parton an Oscar nomination for ‘Best Original Song' and became one of her biggest hits.
The film was a huge success and the second highest grossing movie of 1980 (only Star Wars' The Empire Strikes Back made more!)
In 2009, nearly 30 years after the film's release, 9-5 made its debut as a Broadway Musical with new songs written by Parton, and then made it's way over to the West-End where it premiered in February 2019.
Since its UK premiere, 9 to 5 The Musical has been seen by over half a million people at over 450 performances. This will be it's second national UK tour and another chance for you to see it!
WHAT IS DOLLY PARTON'S 9-5 THE MUSICAL ABOUT?
9 TO 5 THE MUSICAL tells the story of Doralee, Violet and Judy – three workmates pushed to boiling point by their sexist and egotistical boss. Concocting a plan to kidnap and turn the tables on their despicable supervisor, will the women manage to reform their office – or will events unravel when the CEO pays an unexpected visit?
Inspired by the cult film this hilarious new West End production is about teaming up, standing up and taking care of business!
The musical features a book by Patricia Resnick, the legendary film’s original screenwriter, and an original Oscar, Grammy and Tony award-nominated score by multi Grammy Award winner, country legend and pop icon Dolly Parton.
