Sunny Afternoon – The Kinks Musical is finally back! Touring the UK in 2025 for the first time in nearly a decade.
Following a phenomenal two-year run in London’s West End and a sell-out UK & Ireland tour in 2016/17, the Olivier Award-winning musical that charts the rise of The Kinks is returning to theatres nationwide.
Winner of four Olivier Awards – including Best New Musical and Outstanding Achievement in Music – Sunny Afternoon has been described as:

The 2025 tour opens at the Manchester Palace Theatre from 10–18 October 2025, marking the long-awaited return of this smash-hit musical.
WHAT IS SUNNY AFTERNOON ABOUT?
Set against the backdrop of Britain on the cusp of the swinging sixties, Sunny Afternoon explores the highs and lows of Ray Davies and The Kinks as they rise from North London musicians to international rock stars.
From breakthrough hits and creative clashes to court cases and personal struggles, this is a story of fame, family, and standing your ground – all told through a legendary back catalogue including ‘You Really Got Me', ‘Lola', ‘Waterloo Sunset', and ‘All Day and All of the Night'.
Written by Joe Penhall, directed by Edward Hall, and featuring original story, music and lyrics by Ray Davies, Sunny Afternoon captures the spirit of a band – and a country – on the brink of a cultural revolution.
